Quality and Evaluation

Portucalense University established, in February 2007, the Office for Quality and Evaluation (GQA), whose main objective is to measure the quality of services and teaching at the University and to contribute to the implementation of measures that promote teaching excellence in accordance with the European standards for accreditation.

The University has unequivocally assumed the principle that quality and quality assurance are a fundamental vector for its functioning and development.

This principle is enshrined in the University’s commitment to develop its work through a culture of quality, based on responsibility and on the effectiveness of its action for greater social cohesion.

Objectives

  • To support and stimulate the implementation of an internal quality management system;
  • Coordinate and support the evaluation processes of the pedagogical quality of UPT by measuring the satisfaction of their students;
  • Supporting the external evaluation processes at UPT;
  • Promoting the evaluation of the quality of services at UPT.
Quality Management Policy

Universidade Portucalense is a higher education institution whose aim is to contribute to the economic and social development of the North of Portugal, where it is located and where the majority of its students and teachers come from, and into whose community (particularly the business community) it aims to integrate in a sustainable way, through institutional commitment to the quality of its teaching and research.

Its aim is to promote its position and competitiveness in university education by developing teaching and scientific activities in strict compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and based on the continuous improvement of processes to satisfy its students and other stakeholders, namely: their families, society, regulators and legislators, as a determining factor for its sustainability as an educational institution.

SIGQ ensures the procedures and mechanisms for monitoring, evaluating and acting on the three aspects of the University’s mission, research, teaching and learning and knowledge transfer, with a view to continuous improvement and achieving the planned results.

This goal will only be possible with a competent, motivated workforce that is aligned with the University’s strategic vision, thus helping to balance efficiency and excellence.

This policy is underpinned by the SIGQ, which will make it possible to achieve a high level of academic and business performance and develop a culture of continuous improvement.

Universidade Portucalense is committed to promoting a teaching, learning and research environment that seeks to attract the best students, thus training professionals with high technical competence and integrity of character, who will contribute to a more prosperous and responsible society.

In these terms, each member of Universidade Portucalense is responsible for the continuous improvement of SIGQ, making this a responsibility shared by all.’~
