Who can apply for a Masters?

2ND CYCLE OF STUDIES
  • Holders of a bachelor's degree or legal equivalent;
  • Holders of a foreign academic degree conferred following a 1st cycle of studies organized in accordance with the principles of the Bologna process by a State that adheres to that process;
  • Holders of a foreign higher academic degree that is recognized as satisfying the objectives of the degree of licenciado by the Scientific Council of Portucalense University;
  • Holders of academic, scientific or professional curricula that are recognized by the Scientific Council of Portucalense University as attesting the capacity to carry out this cycle of studies;
In view of their academic and professional background, candidates may apply for a Application for Recognition and Accreditation of Skills, which may confer equivalences to course units of the Master's course. The holders of the Pre-Bologna bachelor degree who have more than 5 years of professional experience in the area of the master degree may request the substitution of the dissertation by a detailed report on the professional activity according to the regulations in force.

Application documentation for holders of a foreign higher education degree

  • Specific Template, Recognition that the academic degree satisfies the objectives of the degree of bachelor, for the purposes of application to a master's course, requesting prior recognition by the Scientific Council of the access qualification
  • ID Card
  • Passport type Photo
  • Document proving the title of the foreign higher academic degree with the indication of the final grade (*)
  • Detailed certificate of the curricular units that constitute the curricular plan of the academic degree (*)
  • Updated CV

(*) The documents must be translated into Portuguese, whenever they are not issued in Portuguese, English, French or Spanish and stamped by the consular service or presented with the apposition ofThe Hague Apostille by the competent authority of the State from which the document originates.

Change of institution/course pair and Re-entry

According to the new Ordinance No. 181-D/2015 of 19th June, course change and transfer has been replaced by a single regime called "change of institution/course pair".

The change of institution/course pair is not allowed in the academic year in which the student has been placed in a higher education institution/course pair under any access and admission regime and has matriculated and enrolled.

The change of institution/course pair and the re-entry are requested to the Admission and Student Support Services Department, using the appropriate form.

  • Original or certified copy of the document proving enrolment in the educational establishment of origin (except for UPT candidates) (*);
