RISE-Health has more than 1300 researchers

The new RISE-Health Research Unit, of which Universidade Portucalense is a part, has completed the team registration stage, with a total of 1,349 researchers (637 integrated and 712 collaborators).

RISE-Health has six lines of research: Clinical and Translational Research in Cardiovascular Sciences; Clinical and Translational Research in Oncology; Clinical and Translational Research in Inflammatory and Degenerative Diseases; Health Policy, Technology, and Digital Transformation; Community Health and Societal Challenges.

This new research unit, based at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, has management centres in five organic units of the University of Porto (Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Dental Medicine, Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences, and Faculty of Sciences). In addition to those, it has others outside this perimeter, namely in five public universities (University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, University of the Algarve, University of Aveiro, University of Madeira, and Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Beira Interior), two private higher education institutions (Universidade Portucalense and Universidade Fernando Pessoa ), and four public or private Polytechnic Institutions (Porto School of Nursing, Porto Polytechnic School of Health, Santa Maria School of Health, and Nursing School of the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém).

The existing facilities and scientific equipment at the various management centres will be available to all RISE-Health researchers, “thus promoting a better articulation of research with teaching, as well as clinical practice with biomedical innovation.”
