Welcoming new students

Universidade Portucalense will welcome first-year students of its first cycle study programmes on 8 and 10 September, with a set of activities specially designed to promote their confident, active, and participatory integration into academic life. On 8 September, at 9.30 a.m., the Aula Magna hosts the Welcome Session. Between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., the Academic Departments will be presented in rooms organised by subject area, providing a first contact with lecturers, colleagues, and the structure of the programmes. The day will end with a social event, starting at 1 p.m., next to the Espelho d’Água, with the motto “Meeting Point: Start Here!” On 10 September, activities resume at 2 p.m. with the distribution of freshers’ kits, also at the Espelho d’Água. At 2.30 p.m., the Family Photo 2025 will be taken, bringing together all the new students and lecturers. The afternoon continues with the dynamic “Freshers’ Mission: Challenge yourself and Connect!” between 3 p.m. and 5.30 p.m., on campus. The programme will end with the Institutional Welcome Session at 5.30 p.m. in the Aula Magna, which will officially mark the opening of the new academic year and the start of the new students’ academic journey.

1st Cycle Study Programme: 2nd round of applications

The second round of applications (2025-2026) for the 15 1st cycle study programmes at Universidade Portucalense runs until 4 August. Architecture and Urbanism, Multimedia and Arts, Law, Legal Services, International Relations, Economics, Management, Health Management and Administration, Marketing, Industrial Engineering and Management, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Psychology, Education, Tourism, and Hospitality Management are part of the study programmes offered. With a qualified teaching staff, Universidade Portucalense stands out in higher education for the quality and innovation of the study programmes offered as well as for its research capacity. Doctoral Programmes Applications and Scholarships

Applications for doctoral programmes at Universidade Portucalense are open until 12 September. Applications must be made on the portals of the respective courses: Doctoral programme in Business Sciences Doctoral programme in Legal Sciences Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology and Counselling  In the 2025-2026 academic year, Universidade Portucalense will award scholarships to candidates for the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology and Counselling and the Doctoral programme in Legal Sciences. These tuition fee waiver scholarships will be awarded to the candidates with the best absolute merit in the following criteria: Academic qualifications; Scientific production; Work experience; Motivation letter.    

Sustainability Week

From 12 to 16 May, Universidade Portucalense will be promoting the 3rd edition of Sustainability Week, under the theme “The future is today”, with the aim of inspiring and mobilising the academic community to build a healthier future, starting with everyday behaviours.

Human rights and Citizenship

On 1 and 2 July, Universidade Portucalense is holding the 2nd International Symposium on Human Rights and Citizenship, on the theme “Human Rights in Crisis? Tensions between Global Challenges and Local Conjunctures.”

PNUM 2025

Universidade Portucalense is holding the PNUM 2025, the 13th PNUM Conference of the Lusophone Urban Morphology Network, from 28 to 30 July.

The Future of Distance Education

On 19 May, Rector Fernando Ramos will take part in the online event “The Future of Distance Education: Challenges and Opportunities in a Lusophone and European Context”, promoted by ABED – the Brazilian Distance Education Association.

Erasmus Staff Week and International Tourism and Hospitality Week

From 19 to 23 May, faculty and staff from 13 European universities are taking part in the VIII Erasmus Staff Week and in the I International Tourism and Hospitality Week. This international exchange week will include good practice sharing sessions, open classes, and a cultural programme with a guided tour of Aveiro and the beaches of Barra and Costa Nova.
