Erasmus Welcome Week welcomes 110 international students

On 7 and 8 September, Universidade Portucalense organised a welcome programme for 110 international students from 24 different countries: Germany, Belgium, Belarus, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Czechia, China, Croatia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lebanon, Poland, Kyrgyzstan, Romania, Thailand, Tanzania, Turkey, and Ukraine.

Erasmus Welcome Week began with a welcome session, followed by a guided tour of the campus and rounded off with an International Brunch. Throughout the day, there were sessions presenting the University’s various services, with information on integration and wellbeing, provided by the Student Support Office; on literacy, provided by the Library; on using the SIUPT, the University’s academic platform, provided by the Academic Services; and on setting up the wireless network, provided by the IT Systems.

The programme included off-campus activities, with a surfing lesson at Matosinhos Beach in the morning and a guided tour of the Serralves Museum and Park in the afternoon. The day ended with a walk along the Passeio das Virtudes, where the students enjoyed the sunset.

Organised by the International Relations Office, this programme helped new students settle into the academic community and the city of Porto, reinforcing Universidade Portucalense’s commitment to internationalisation, cultural diversity, and an inclusive university experience.
