Presentation

The current challenge of new development models affects traditional approaches to heritage management and territorial development. An innovative and integrated approach that requires a “new generation” of professionals, more complete, more flexible, more capable of creating and managing international networks, with new skills and a renewed sensitivity and leadership spirit. With the Master’s Degree in Cultural Heritage Territorial Development, UPT intends to embrace this educational and scientific challenge and train professionals who, independently of their original areas of knowledge, intend to become professionally involved in the process of sustainable territorial development through integrated and innovative strategies. The international character of the Master in Cultural Heritage and Territorial Development allows participants to be involved in a real international context in which students from different cultures will share experiences in study and research tasks. It is pretended to foster, in accordance with UNESCO and the United Nations guidelines, a spirit of global cooperation for the construction of a “globally devised and locally implemented” future of peace.

Course accredited by A3ES.

Objectives

The objective of the Master in Cultural Heritage and Territorial Development is to train professionals who are able to face the new challenges of heritage management and valorization in the scope of new models of territorial development. The conservation, interpretation and enhancement of tangible and intangible cultural resources as socio-economic factors are key tasks in the context of new development paradigms, for which traditional professionals are no longer sufficient: new challenges in the field of cultural policies, of tourism development and territorial planning require the presence – in the public sector as well as in the private sector – of professionals with adequate training, transversal, strong leadership and networking capacity, who are sensitized to the importance of a holistic approach and a particular sensitivity with regard to the themes of sustainability and heritage valorization for residents and tourists.

The aim is to offer students a complete view of the phenomenon through a holistic approach: the analysis of the phenomenon from the point of view of scientific research will be complemented by an analysis of good national and international practices throughout the first year. The creation of this bridge between theory and practice will be given above all by the presence of highly experienced teachers, not only in the scientific field, but also with a great deal of practical knowledge and experience of projects of valorization in national and international scope. The second year will be devoted to scientific / field work and to the dissertation.

  • An innovative and integrated approach that enables a “new generation” of professionals
  • We focus training on the acquisition of new skills, with a renewed sensitivity towards Cultural Heritage
  • We have designed the study plan with a centrality in the Territory Development and in the new societal challenges
