COURSE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Advanced scientific and professional training in Software Engineering

  • Acquire and broaden skills in fundamental technologies in the software industry

  • Creating professionals that embrace projects and not jobs

Presentation

The Master in Informatics – Specialisation in Software Engineering (MI-SSE) aims at a specialized training in the principles of modern software engineering, together with the tools, methods and techniques that support its application. The course offers students the opportunity to acquire and extend skills inherent to the technological advances that are indispensable in the software industry. Students will be able to plan, control, and conduct development activities of highly complex software systems using emerging technologies.

In addition to advanced scientific and professional training in Software Engineering, critical and creative thinking in relation to emerging technologies (Mobile Computing, Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, Information Security, among others), entrepreneurship and sustainable development processes are also enhanced.

It is our mission to contribute so that the Software Engineering professional does not embrace jobs, but projects with flexibility, proactivity, search for new challenges and sustainable and lifelong learning, in short, to be a determined professional in his career!

In the 2nd year of the course, the acquired and developed skills will be complemented through the completion of a scientific profile dissertation, or a project or internship in a business context that will contribute to the resolution of problems/needs of a company.

Publication in Diário da República, 2nd Series – No. 115 – June 16, 2020 – Announcement No. 138/2020

Why choose this course?

MI-SSE allows students to acquire specialized technical skills and behavioral competencies, appropriate and necessary for a better professional performance in the current software industry.

The course has a faculty of mostly PhDs from leading universities, which introduces a dynamic and plurality of visions that enriches the training, as well as expert professionals with extensive experience in the software industry.

Throughout the two years the course, on the one hand, integrates a set of seminars in emerging areas led by prestigious professionals and professors from foreign universities and, on the other hand, allows students coming from 1st cycle courses to acquire technical and behavioral skills so sought after by the business sector.

As it is characteristic of the DCT courses, proximity teaching is offered, ensuring quality training and consequently success in the placement of master’s students.
