On World Mental Health Day, which falls on 10 October, Universidade Portucalense is launching “UPT Talks: Conversations on mental health” with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of mental health and the problems it currently faces.
“Deconstructing the Wisdom of Trauma” is the theme of the first talk, which will feature guest speaker Isabel Prado e Castro, psychiatrist, family therapist, and psychodramatist, and is scheduled for 3pm at the Aula Magna.
The talk will begin with a screening of excerpts from the documentary “The Wisdom of Trauma,” in which internationally renowned doctor Gabor Maté explores the reason for mental illness in the Western world. This will be the starting point for a conversation with Isabel Prado Castro, moderated by Maria Araújo, coordinator of the Portucalense Clinical Centre for Psychology.
“UPT Talks: Conversations on mental health,” organised by the Department of Psychology and Education and part of the activities of the Portucalense Clinical Centre for Psychology, will be held bi-monthly throughout the school year.
