With the main objective of supporting the training of specialized professionals and boosting knowledge and innovation, HPSC – High Performance Studies Center is awarding a scholarship (in the amount of the tuition fee) for the 1st edition of the Postgraduate Course in Clinical Fundamentals for Hospital Managers. Requirements to apply for the scholarship Academic qualifications – Degree level. Professional experience – The degree of suitability between the functions/activities already carried out, directly and/or indirectly related to the activities inherent to the Postgraduate Programme, will be taken into account.) Until 17th September, applications are open for the Post-Graduate Degree Clinical Fundamentals for Hospital Management. 1st Phase: 25 March to 22 July – Early Bird 2nd Phase: 23rd July to 18th October With this postgraduate training, the aim is to provide hospital management with specific clinical concepts that facilitate and increase coordination between the different health professions in the governance of health institutions. The ultimate purpose of this training is to obtain gains in efficiency, effectiveness and effectiveness in the management of hospital institutions with increases in the quality of care provided to patients and, consequently, in their levels of satisfaction. This course aims to provide hospital managers or administrators with clinical knowledge that will help them make daily economic decisions. The health sector in general, and medicine in particular, are characterised by technical specificities that require specific training. Since hospital managers or administrators have to make decisions on a daily basis that involve specific clinical knowledge, it is of the utmost importance that they have this knowledge.

Applications are open for the Post-Graduate Degree in Consumer Law 1st Phase: 16 December 2024 to 1 March 2025 – Early Bird: 10% discount on tuition fees. 2nd Phase: 1 February to 14 March 2025 The Postgraduate Course in Consumer Law, prepared in accordance with the Regulations of Non Degree Courses of the University Portucalense, is the result of a partnership between the Department of Law of the UPT and the Portuguese Association for Consumer Protection – DECO. The Postgraduate Course will be run by professionals who work daily with Consumer Law, as well as UPT teachers who guarantee the student not only a theoretical but also an empirical and eminently practical view.

Universidade Portucalense informs that it will award three doctoral scholarships to the candidates with the best absolute merit. These scholarships are aimed at candidates for the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology and Counselling and the Doctoral Programme in Legal Sciences. On 26 September, Ana-Paula Correia, from Ohio State University, will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using Artificial Intelligence in the teaching and learning process. The initiative takes place at 2.30pm in auditorium 201, as part of the Talks Cycle: “Touching the future with…” Ana-Paula Correia is Director of the Centre for Education and Training for Employability at Ohio State University, United States of America, where she leads the research group “Learning Design and Educational Experiences”, studying topics such as online education, collaborative learning, learning design and human-computer interaction. Fernando Moreira, Professor in the Department of Science and Technology will moderate the talk. Registration Poster

On 19 September, at 2:30 pm, in the Aula Magna room, the National Association of Traders and Exporters of Wines and Spirits (ANCEVE) will hold a conference titled “Challenges and opportunities for the wine sector – is there an unprecedented vitivinicultural crisis coming?”

Universidade Portucalense won the 1st round of the Global Management Challenge  (GMC), the largest strategy and management competition in the world. Universidade Portucalense took part in the contest with three teams of students in the second year of the Management degree, coordinated by Professor Sofia Gomes. Two of the teams won the first round of their group at national level. For Shital Jayantilal, Director of the Department of Economics and Management, “this victory reflects the quality of teaching, the topicality and relevance of the degree’s syllabus and its practical nature, close to the real management of a company.” The GMC consists of an interactive business simulation in which each team manages a company with the aim of obtaining the best investment performance for their company in the market in which it operates. In its 40th year, the GMC has involved more than 650,000 company executives and university students from all over the world. 192 teams took part in 2024’s edition, organised into 32 groups. The second round starts on 24 September.
