1. Define "development", "power" and "inequality" in their several dimensions;
2. Understand and interpret critically the different "difference(s)": gender, ethnic or religion, as well as the underlying sociological processes to the development of the human societies to the power relationships and the structured inequality.
3. Analyze and interpret the relation between the contemporary asymmetries of development, power and the colonialism phenomes;
4. Apply the knowledges concern the IR interpretation and the actor's role in the political, cultural and economic sceneries;
5. Promote and be part in the main debates of projects to support the development.
Lectures focused on imparting knowledge to students concerning the development processes, power and inequality in international relations
Practical classes in the form of seminars focused on discussion with students about the various themes that take up the study of development, power and inequality in international relations.
Reading and discussion of a list of preselected texts.
Written and oral exercises targeting the analysis of international contemporary events in the light of the discipline issues.
Use of audiovisual technology as a way to familiarize students with the studied topics, namely through the exhibition of documentaries, clips with interviews of actors in supporting development projects as well as images relating to issues under study.

This course enables students to a critical understanding and analysis of development processes and relations of power and inequality in terms of international society, linking them with intrasocietal phenomena and analyzing them in its political, economic, sociocultural
and environmental . The course is focused on the development of skills in terms of understanding the thought processes subjecentes sociological international relations, as well as the theoretical and policy implications of procesoss of human development and interdependence, power and inequality between political communities.
Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's objectives
This course develops students' skills concerning their understanding of how international relations are structured by relations of power and inequality whose character can trace the sociological processes of human development. In this way, students develop theoretical capacities and review practices of international society and its power structures to intra and inter societal levels and how different dimensions of human development processes, whether political, economic, social, cultural or environmental are interconnected to form different expressions of international social reality.
