After concluding this course, students should be able to:
a) understand the functioning of international business;
b) characterize the international business environment;
c) understand the theoretical models used to analyze the functioning of international markets and the internationalization processes;
d) understand the country´s evaluation and selection processes;
e) identify and characterize the different modes of entry in international markets;
f) design corporate internationalization plans.
The expository-active method will be used to teach the syllabus, complemented with graphical and schematic analysis, real-life examples and discussion of texts.
A methodology of teaching-learning will also be used, based on two pillars: a) application to case studies; b) team work.

The Chapter 1 allows the achievement of objectives 1 and 2, making possible the knowledge about the challenges of International business management and current trends in a global business world.
The Chapter 2 reinforces the achievement of the objective 2, focusing on the analysis of the international business environment and on the different types of economic, political, cultural and legal systems and their impact in the management of international firms.
The Chapter 3 is associated with objective 3, providing a basic knowledge of the main theories of business internationalization.
The Chapter 4 contributes to the achievement of objectives 4 and 5, providing basic concepts to understand the processes and internationalization strategies.
Chapters 5 to 10 contribute to the achievement of objectives 6 and 7, including the choice of destination countries, the different modes of entry, the organizational options and insertion into the global value chains.
Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's objectives
In the classes the expository-active method will be used to present the main concepts related to the course. Classroom discussion will be encouraged in order to stimulate students' critical thinking and ability to express sustained opinions, as well as to internalize the essential concepts. The analysis of case studies wants to stimulate critical discussion and develop students' ability to recognize the applications of concepts in real situations.
