Presentation

The growing global effort, within the framework of the UN 2030 Agenda, the Council of Europe and the Council of the European Union and through the EU Strategy for Gender Equality 2020-2025, has driven various initiatives and fostered interest in Gender Studies and Women’s Studies.

This multidisciplinary and transversal course in women’s studies is an opportunity to gain skills and deepen knowledge of legal norms and institutions, from the point of view of different areas of knowledge that directly or indirectly refer to women and women’s rights, with a view to offering some legal support for a reading of reality and research in areas of legal and non-legal knowledge.

The course takes place over ten sessions with different lecturers who hold doctorates in their respective fields. The second part of the last session is reserved for an informal discussion between the lecturers and students with the aim of debating some issues and methodological scope about the Essay they will have to develop.

  • An inter- and transdisciplinary approach to women’s studies, gender and intersectionality;
  • Acquisition of in-depth competences in the area of Women’s Studies;
  • Relevance of the issues addressed in all course sessions.
Objectives
  • Recognise important events in the history of ideas, literature, sociology, psychology and legal practice that are relevant to the promotion of gender equality and women in all dimensions of social life.
  • Realise the impact of legal and normative constructions on the history of ideas, literary practice and women’s way of living, acting and feeling.
  • Identify, in the Constitutions, International Instruments and Civil Codes, the normative provisions that are important for promoting gender and women’s equality in all dimensions of social life.
  • Critically analyse the current state of national and international legal development in the face of the challenge of recognising gender and women’s equality in all dimensions of social life.
  • Multidisciplinary training in the area of Gender Equality.

  • Graduates in any field of knowledge.
  • Interested parties who do not have an academic degree, who are looking for training and to update their knowledge in this area, on presentation of a CV.
