Publication in Diário da República, 2nd series - N.º 137 - 18 july 2013 - Announcement n.º 254/2013

Every day we come across different types of situations in which the Portuguese Heritage, Our Heritage, is the target of the most diverse situations of neglect, abandonment, destruction .... Often due to a lack of knowledge, a lack of solid and adequate training for the various situations of conservation and intervention! We are indignant, but we can do more.

The Master in Artistic Heritage, Conservation and Restoration, addressed to the most diverse types of professionals working in various areas related to the Heritage, is a full response and is undoubtedly one of the ways to prevent many of the situations less worthy of Our Heritage! In this sense, in this course, the theoretical themes also deal with the valuation of heritage and its authenticity, in order to enhance the application of ethical principles, namely in the criteria for intervention and safeguarding heritage, articulating solid scientific knowledge with the analysis of practical situations in a real work context.

Research into the various factors of degradation (such as climate change and other risks) is also valued in order to create conditions for protecting and safeguarding heritage, both in museums and in cities, and in the various regions where our heritage proliferates.

It is thus intended to develop basic skills in the design, implementation and evaluation of research projects in Artistic Heritage and Conservation and Restoration in order to develop decision-making and technical skills, in a process that aims at the growing autonomy of master students and that contributes to the conservation and intervention of Our Heritage.
