  • This course provides the fundamental principles of innovation, as well as strategies and tools, which enable the creation of appropriate innovation management systems under the new ISO 56002 – Innovation Management System

During 5 weeks of virtual classes, application activities and the integration and presentation of a final innovation project, students will be able to Initiate Innovation projects and manage the various elements of a  comprehensive Innovation System under the ISO 56002 - Innovation Management System. 

Innovation is an essential strategy for the development of  Industry 4.0, although few organizations know how to manage it. Enriching the knowledge and practice of innovation management has become an Indispensable professional competence.  From this course, the professional could obtain a comprehensive understanding and actionable knowledge of the ISO guidance standards regarding the innovation management of organizations to determine its innovation’s vision, strategy, policy, and objectives, and to establish the support and processes needed to achieve the intended outcomes.

The program has been developed on the basis of a solid academic structure and proven practical experiences in several organizations of different industries, sizes and a large number of people at the global level, being part of the body of knowledge of IAOIP, the only innovation certification body supported by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO),with more than 3,000 members in more than 100 countries, who form an interconnected community to provide tools for innovation and collaboration between countries, industries, governments and academia.

This course is an important step toward demonstrating your core Innovation management skills and knowledge.

Innovation Maturity Levels - Developing Culture for Innovation

  • Publicizing concepts of how Macro and Micro Conditions drive Innovation.
  • Manage the concepts of Innovator Competencies for Individuals and Teams.
  • Learn how to diagnose maturity levels of innovation culture.
  • Finally manage the Ideas and Concepts to define Potential Innovation Initiatives based the Jobs That Customers Require (JTBD).

Module 3 _

Deepening the Value to Customers, Generating Value Through Industry 4.0 Trends 

  • Know the importance of identifying customer Insight and developing an in-depth knowledge that allows generating proposal of innovative value generates innovation and positive impact.
  • Manage Ideas and Concepts to define Potential Innovation Projects based on The Jobs Required by Customers (JTBD), using the main trends of Industry 4.0 to develop such proposals.

Module 4 _

Innovation Portfolio - Description, Evaluation and Priorization

  • Publicize the description of the processes involved in Innovation Management, identifying the leading role of the Innovation Project Portfolio.
  • Traditional measurements, innovation measurements and how they affect the innovators dilemma Will be analysed.
  • Finally, it Will be described as describing, evaluating,categorizing, prior curling and balancing a strategic innovation portfolio.

ISO 56002 Innovation Management System - IMS 

  • Introduce the concepts involved in the IMS of ISO 56002 guidance standard, its main processes and interrelations.
  • Discussion about the 10 best practices to follow to implement an IMS underthe guidelines ofthe new ISO 56002.

REMIT has experienced significant growth since its creation in 2017, evident in the number of researchers, publications and competitively funded projects.


The positive evolution of REMIT was recognized, at the end of 2019, by the FCT evaluation panel through the attribution of a GOOD rating in the last evaluation exercise. This evaluation translated into the obtaining of 512 thousand euros of funding, in the basic and programmatic components, as well as the awarding of two PhD scholarships.

Module 2 _

Innovation Maturity Levels - Developing Culture for Innovation

  • Publicizing concepts of how Macro and Micro Conditions drive Innovation.
  • Manage the concepts of Innovator Competencies for Individuals and Teams.
  • Learn how to diagnose maturity levels of innovation culture.
  • Finally manage the Ideas and Concepts to define Potential Innovation Initiatives based the Jobs That Customers Require (JTBD).

Module 3 _

Deepening the Value to Customers, Generating Value Through Industry 4.0 Trends 

  • Know the importance of identifying customer Insight and developing an in-depth knowledge that allows generating proposal of innovative value generates innovation and positive impact.
  • Manage Ideas and Concepts to define Potential Innovation Projects based on The Jobs Required by Customers (JTBD), using the main trends of Industry 4.0 to develop such proposals.

Module 4 _

Innovation Portfolio - Description, Evaluation and Priorization

  • Publicize the description of the processes involved in Innovation Management, identifying the leading role of the Innovation Project Portfolio.
  • Traditional measurements, innovation measurements and how they affect the innovators dilemma Will be analysed.
  • Finally, it Will be described as describing, evaluating,categorizing, prior curling and balancing a strategic innovation portfolio.

Module 5 _

ISO 56002 Innovation Management System - IMS 

  • Introduce the concepts involved in the IMS of ISO 56002 guidance standard, its main processes and interrelations.
  • Discussion about the 10 best practices to follow to implement an IMS underthe guidelines ofthe new ISO 56002.

REMIT - Research on Economics, Management and Information Technologies, aims to produce theoretical and applied knowledge that enables a greater understanding of economic, business, territorial and technological dynamics and trends in the contemporary world and their socio-economic effects, contributing to the design, implementation and evaluation of organizational strategies and public policies.

REMIT has experienced significant growth since its creation in 2017, evident in the number of researchers, publications and competitively funded projects.
The positive evolution of REMIT was recognized, at the end of 2019, by the FCT evaluation panel through the attribution of a GOOD rating in the last evaluation exercise. This evaluation translated into the obtaining of 512 thousand euros of funding, in the basic and programmatic components, as well as the awarding of two PhD scholarships.
