Corporate Planning 2017/2018

Objectives

The student should be able to:
1. Identify planning as a management task, framing it with other management tasks;
2. Recognize and relate the levels and principles of corporate planning;
3. Define mission, vision, objectives and organizational values
4. Identify and describe the most used techniques in corporate planning, recognizing and synthesizing information.
5. Identify the different stages in the planning process, summarizing, the formulation, the implementation and control of the plan.
6. Identify the different decision-making techniques.

Recommended Prerequisites

Knowledge of English language.
Basic knowledge of Management

Teaching Metodology

A mixed method is applied, combining theoretical exposure at an early approach to matters with the active participation of students. Promoting critical reading and analysis of specifically selected texts, debate, argument and the application of new concepts and techniques as well as self-learning through guided problem- solving present in case studies. The seminars complement the theoretical knowledge.

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's objectives

To achieve objective 1 and 2 point 1 of the contents will be taught. For objective 3 point 2.1 of the contents will be presented. To accomplish objective 4 the techniques presented in point 2.2 will be used. The fifth objective will be supported in point 2.4 of the contents and the final objective on last content (point 3) of the syllabus.

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's objectives

The teaching methods are adapted to the goals to be achieved. The teaching methods are adapted to the goals to be achieved.The goals will be achieved by: the presentation and discussion of theoretical subjects, the students’ participation and arguing, and practical problem solving regarding the topics addressed in the classes.
Initially, a theoretical exposition will be adopted, to achieve each of the proposed objectives. This will be complemented by resorting to practical cases in order to promote debate in the classroom and and a better understanding of the uses in the organizational context.
The objectives will be attained through the conjuction the various methodologies refered, promoting self learning and guidance to the students to the resolution of both of the group exercises.
